Blogging can be a valuable marketing tool for up and coming authors. Perhaps you may have a book idea that you would like to test in the literary marketplace. Or you may want to build a readership for your next best-selling novel, then blogging is an excellent place to get started.
Shop around in cyberspace for a blog written by one of your favorite authors in your genre and follow their blog to:
- study their methods for success,
- develop a relationship,
- and glean from their industry expertise.
Once you have established your own blogging writing schedule, test the waters and start to build interest in your topic of discussion by becoming your own town crier. In other words, announce that you are starting a blog on the social media platforms where you have followers.
When you’ve invited everyone to the party, then draft your first blog. Send it to an editor for review and share it with your immediate circle for valuable feedback. Once you’ve made any necessary revisions than you are ready to post your first blog!
After you’ve consistently established a blogging presence based on your goal for the first month, quarter, mid-year or end-of-the-year, then start to invite some of your favorite bloggers to be guest bloggers on your blog. Also, offer to do likewise for them. Either way you are given exposure to their social media tribe and they just might like your blog post enough to follow you.
You can also use excerpts from your book as blog-starters to generate interest in your upcoming release. Or conduct a blog book tour utilizing bloggers in your network to support this endeavor. Blogging is an excellent marketing tool for authors, so don’t forget to add it to your book marketing strategy plan.
Change something today to make your tomorrow better.
