A high percentage of people do exactly this, by not fully completing their profile.
The whole idea behind social media and networking is to develop relationships with others. Many authors and writers have a Google+ profile that states they are male or female and that’s it!
They either have no image showing or it’s an image of an animal, nature scene, their book cover or something else that is meaningless.
Imagine going to a new neighbors front door wearing a halloween mask with the intention of welcoming them to your neighborhood. What are the chances that they would take you seriously assuming they would even stand there long enough for you to say hello.
It takes four seconds for a person to size you up–decide if they like the way you
- wear your hair
- dress
- stand
- talk
- smile
- present yourself
Since it’s a neighbor, you might have the opportunity to undo that first impression, but on the internet the odds are probably one in a trillion or more.
Why go to the trouble of joining a platform without giving anyone the opportunity to connect with you.
I like the Google+ platform because of the vast options given in the profile. This platform is my favorite and I use it as my hub.
Not everyone is as transparent as I and I get that. But, I don’t get no contact information at all.
Try to look at your profile from a first time visitor’s view. Would you take your profile seriously?
Change something today to make your tomorrow better.
